His professional trajectory began in 1975 with the show “Journey to the Center of the Earth”, featuring Rick Wakeman, the Porto Alegre Symphonic Orchestra (OSPA) with Isaac Karabtchevsky as the conductor, and Universidade Gama Filho Choir (Rio de Janeiro), presented by Murilo Neri. The Aquarius project, by the newspaper O Globo, was brought to Porto Alegre for the first time through the agency of Geraldo Ferreira Lopes.
In 1976, he founded Opus Promotions, where he still works until this day. He had built up experience operating in the entertainment and culture business in order to make his dream come true: placing the state of Rio Grande do Sul as one of the obligatory routes for the biggest artistic events. Currently, Opus Entertainment is in charge of managing and operating important theaters throughout the Northeast, Southeast and South regions of Brazil. The company also manages the careers of big names in the Brazillian entertainment and music markets, such as Luccas Neto, Daniel, Maurício Manieri, Seu Jorge, Alexandre Pires, Hello Adele Tribute and Sinatra 1915 Tribute. For his lifelong dedication to the arts, promotion of culture and founding new cultural spaces, Geraldo Lopes is an Honorary Citizen of Porto Alegre since 1997, a title granted by the city council.
In partnership with Pro-Arte, an entity that besides exercising predominantly didactic activities, elaborated and administrated cultural projects linked to music, dance and theater, Geraldo Lopes brought to Rio Grande do Sul conductors, orchestras, concert music soloists and many other musical caravans promoted by the entity, always alongside Eva Sopher, his friend and partner in many projects. Between the years of 1990 and 1999, he also acted as the Artistic Director of Theatro São Pedro, once again alongside Eva Sopher. In 1985, he was one of the founders of Theatro São Pedro Chamber Orchestra (OCTSP), where he took on the roles of Patron, Productor and Financial Director during 14 years, among other responsibilities.
Until this day, Geraldo Lopes visits many countries regularly in order to watch the main artistic seasons, always looking to bring the best shows to Brazil. In his background, throughout more than 40 years of experience, are worldwide renowned concert music attractions such as I Solisti Italiani, Jean Pierrre Rampal, London Festival Orchestra, Vienna Boys Choir, Salzburg Orchestra, Windsbacher Boys Choir, Moscow Chamber Orchestra, Czech Chamber Orchestra, the Universal Flute Orchestra Japan, the Leningrad Philarmonic Orchestra, the Symphonic Orchestra of Moscow, the Symphonic Orchestra of Israel, and many others.
