Ospa Foundation

The Fundação Orquestra Sinfônica de Porto Alegre (Porto Alegre Symphonic Orchestra Foundation) is a musical and education complex that has been promoting orchestral music and the formation of audiences in Rio Grande do Sul since 1950.

Linked to the State Secretariat of Culture, Tourism, Sports and Leisure, it boasts an orchestra, symphonic choir and music academy. It is chaired by Dr. Ivo Nesralla and the artistic director is maestro Evandro Matté. Maestro Manfredo Schmiedt conducts the Ospa Symphonic Choir and collaborates on important projects with the orchestra. Rogério Beidacki is the administrative and financial superintendent of the foundation. The Ospa Academy of Music is currently directed by clarinetist Diego Grendene de Souza.

Ospa has an extensive agenda of concerts throughout the state, catering to a wide and diverse audience. The country’s oldest orchestra in uninterrupted activity, its program features different series like São Pedro Theater, Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Churches, Araújo Vianna, Interior, Music in the Museum Didactics, Ospa Youth Orchestra and special concerts.

As part of the Federal Law on Cultural Incentive, this season’s concerts are sponsored by Banrisul and Corsan, with support from Ipiranga, Thyssenkrupp and Ventos do Sul. It is organized by Ospa, the Pablo Komlós Cultural Foundation and the State Secretariat of Culture, Tourism, Sports and Leisure – State Government of Rio Grande do Sul.
